FLIGHT INSTRUCTIONS // THE PROLOGUE

Welcome. Please take the time to fully read your flight instructions before diving in. I included as much as I could think of, while trying to keep it light and to the point. If you think of anything along the way that you think should be added to these instructions, feel free to email your suggestions in. Enjoy.

Hi. This blog is meant to be an art piece. It is to be considered many things. I would love to call it an abstract jazz vignette, but honestly I can’t fully explain what that means, I think you’ll just have to experience it, and it will make more sense.

With that being said, I encourage you to just let yourself experience this as best you feel you can. Let me help you picture one way to do that. You get home and you do that thing. You know exactly what I mean. You know your little thing you have that you look forward to? That little thing you do? You might be at work and you realize something, you go to yourself, “OH! When I get home I’ma do that thing, ooo yes, tonight! Oh man, I cant wait.” So you’re excited now, because you have something to look forward to. You get home, you get your favorite blanket, you sit on your spot, and you do that thing, you make some snacks maybe. Or maybe you sit outside and drink tea, you do that thing, that makes you happy, that’s nothing big or loud, it’s just your thing. Maybe add in this blog. Or make the blog your thing. I just really want you to sit down and not be distracted. It’s no fun to just read it on your phone, get your laptop out, maybe put on some music, and make a thing out of it.

In some pieces there will be specific instructions. Always remember that these are suggestions meant to enhance the experience, however they are not absolutely necessary.

I included a lot of little references, hidden gems. They will be fun to find, but don’t feel bad if you don’t find any that you understand, some are easy, some are hard, especially depending on who you are, honestly some you might never find.

This entire artwork is a work of fiction, however I don’t know if fiction is the right word. I just don’t really want you putting normal labels on it, like “book” “fiction” etc. Just pretend it’s fiction, AND ‘its nonfiction. Pretend it just exists, which it does, but I will let you decide what it is, and what it feels like, and whether or not it’s worth anything to you. After all the art doesn’t exist without the perceiver.

I do not consider myself an author, I consider myself an artist. I love to create art, and words are my medium. My grammar ain’t always going to be proper or even correct, and I am sure theres is a lot that I could edit and say better etc. But I just hope you like the way I write enough to keep coming back for more.

This started off as an idea for a tv series, I was supposed to write it all out and then it would become inspiration that could be grabbed from. Theres some scenes that are more deliberate as a scene, others are more poetry, some are just words meant to be felt. But back to the TV thing, if you are connected, then definitely send this to the right people.

Sometimes the protagonist of the story is the point of view that you will be reading from, sometimes it isn’t, and sometimes it just shifts all over the place. Keep in mind again, I tried to go with what felt right to me. And that’s kind of what I really personally like most about this, is that it all is more of a free flowing experience, than a rigid and easy pattern of travel. So this is why I do not really want to define it as a story, a book, or say that it’s all from a character’s point of view or not. Im not going to say that names have been changed, I’m not going to say based on a true story, I’m not going to say, any resemblance to… blah blah blah, I’d love for you just to step in and take the trip.

It is all inspired by life, by people, by feelings and emotions, by time and space, by questions, not too many answers, it is all evolving and expanding, and it is all yours to experience.

When I created the rough storyline for this art piece, after a while of building individual chapters, I had the ending come to mind, and not even really the ending, but the epilogue. I wrote it out, and then used it as a sort of guide. I knew eventually I had to get there, but the fun was in finding out how. After a while though I decided to create this world for an audience and start putting it out. I feel like the perfect place for you to start, is at the epilogue. So enjoy the first chapter, which is actually the last. And then enjoy the rest. Maybe one day I will get to the ending. Or maybe it will simply just keep evolving, always with the epilogue in mind.

Take your time. Chart the waters. Dive deep. Come up for air.
